Industry News Planning for the 16th annual Babbie Mason Music Conference International is underway. The dates for the conference are Thursday through Saturday, May 20-22, 2004. The conference will be held at Simpsonwood Conference and Retreat Center in Norcross, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. 2/5/4 Provident Music Distribution Announces Name Change Focusing on its objectives for 2004, Provident Music Distribution announces its name change to "Provident Distribution" and rolls out a yearlong goals-oriented campaign for Christian retail. The revised name reflects a renewed vision as the distribution company realizes opportunities to serve retail with more than just music releases, i.e. video, DVD, etc., while the comprehensive campaign reveals six accomplished areas in which Provident is currently the industry leader. The 2004 campaign states, "Six goals. One purpose. Provident Distribution, Our goal is meeting yours."
Word Distribution Announces Promotions Leading Christian retail supplier, Word Distribution, announces the immediate promotion of key executive members. Jim Nehs, former Senior Director of National Accounts is promoted to VP, CBA Sales. Keith Stancil, former VP, General Markets, is named VP, General Market & International Sales. Greg Fritz, former VP, Marketing, is promoted to VP, Sales & Marketing Services. Lori Marty will serve as VP, IT & Operations. Dusty Wells, former Sr. Director, Field & Telesales, is named Sr. Dir., National Accounts. Word Label Group announces the addition of Desmond Pringle as Director of Gospel A&R. "We are looking forward to the broadening of our musical family here at Word and we could not be more excited about having Desmond Pringle head up this effort," states Barry Landis, president of Word Label Group.
