Album Review

When I heard that Earthsuit was no more. I was troubled they were such an innovative band, in a market that has very few of them. But once I heard that two bands were forming from the ashes of Earthsuit I rejoiced. The other band being Macrosick who also just dropped their debut release. Two former members have formed MuteMAth (Paul Meany and Darren King) and with one newcomer guitarist (Greg Hill).

Reset is pretty darn innovative, combining elements as diverse as jazz, reggae and synth rock. The Lyrical content is refreshing and thought-provoking. If only half of the cd's I came across were like this one I would be a very happy man. The whole seven song Ep is a keeper. At times it's very atmospheric. The first single "Control" is a pretty catchy with it's driving drum beat, it's a nice way to get the album started. The next song "Peculiar People", which is the song I thought would be the choice for the first single. It has great subtle hint of reggae. This one gets stuck in my head every time I hear it. 'OK' is easily the slowest song. This one is one of those songs that just speaks to my soul. I've been playing this one over and over. "Plan B" is a really atmospheric rocker, probably the most creative track on the disk. It's one of my favorites I love the use of the synthesizer on this one. "Progress" is really dreamy slow song that is executed with pure excellence. Their are two really cool instrumentals, one "Afterward" that closes out the disk. It's barely over a minute, it's quite the teaser. I don't understand while they didn't let this one drag on a bit longer. This album as a whole is a real breath of fresh air. I can't wait to hear where they take us on the full-length that is sure to follow.
